Reel Check is an independent service run from India. It checks Instagram reels with AI and publishes each check as a page. This page explains how we handle your information.
What we collect, and why
- Your chat with the bot. On Telegram, your chat ID. On Instagram, the ID that Instagram gives us for our conversation with you. We use it to answer you, to count your checks, and to tell you about a challenge you sent.
- The reels you send, and your questions. We download the reel, send it with its caption and your question to Google's Gemini AI to be checked, and then delete our copy of the video. Your questions and our answers are kept for about a day, so you can ask more about the same reel.
- A record of the reels we check. For each checked reel we keep, privately, one still picture from it, its caption, the claims and our verdicts, filed under the account that posted it. This is about public posts and the accounts that make them, not about you.
- Your check count. How many free checks you have used and how many bought checks you have left.
- Payments. Razorpay handles your UPI or card details; we never see them. We keep which chat paid, the amount, the date and the pack.
- Your name on the truth-seekers list, only if you choose one and we approve it. It is the name you choose, never your Instagram or Telegram ID.
- What you send through a page's challenge box: your words and the link you give. They appear on the page only if we approve them. A Cloudflare Turnstile check keeps bots out.
- Page visits. Anonymous counts of how pages are read — how far, for how long, and the kind of browser. No names, no accounts, and no tracking cookies. Voting on a reader's note sets one cookie so each browser votes once.
What is public
A check page shows the reel's public link, the account that posted it, the claims and our verdicts, how many people asked about the reel (a number only), and the name of whoever checked it first, if they chose to show one. It never shows your chat ID, your Instagram ID or your messages.
Who else handles it
- Google runs the Gemini AI that checks each reel. Under Google's terms for paid use of its API, Google does not use this content to improve its products.
- Cloudflare hosts this website and stores its pages.
- Telegram and Meta (Instagram) carry our messages to you.
- Razorpay takes payments.
We do not sell your information, and we do not show you ads.
How long we keep it
- Conversations about a reel: about a day.
- Check pages: they stay up as a public record, with earlier versions kept when a check changes.
- Your check count and bought checks: until you ask us to forget you. The count of free checks used is kept even then, so free checks cannot be claimed twice.
- Payment records: as long as Indian tax law requires.
Your choices
Send /forget to the bot to delete what we hold about you — see Delete your data. Send /name off to take your name off the truth-seekers list.
Children
Reel Check is not meant for children under 13, the minimum age for Telegram and Instagram.
Changes
If this changes, we update this page and its date.
